COST encourages researchers from Near Neighbour Countries to participate in COST Actions on the basis of mutual benefit. COST is engaged in a strategy supporting and encouraging participation of Near Neighbour Countries in COST’s Science and Technology networks.
On 23rd October 2013, the Union for the Mediterranean held the first Economic Forum of the Western Mediterranean - Dialogue 5+5 at its headquarters, in Barcelona. The World Bank organizes a course on "Energy Sector Strategies to Support Green Growth". This course covers essential aspects of renewable energy and energy efficiency policies and discusses how they can contribute to green growth strategies. The overall objective of this course is to provide a better understanding of the policy instruments used to promote the deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies in developing countries.
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) has published a complete wind map of the African continent as part of its Global Atlas for Solar and Wind. The map collects data on average annual wind speeds at 10km resolution and 10m height over the period of 01/2008 – 12/2012.
The international contest involves short films that are focused on the topic of climate change and renewable energy. Eligible works should last 20mins at most and must have been concluded after January 1st 2013. The deadline for application was the 15th of October 2013.
