HORIZON 2020 Open to the World

On 11th December 2013, the European Commission presented the first calls for proposals under Horizon 2020, the Research and Innovation Programme of the European Union with a € 80 billion budget. These funds, of which more than 15 billion euros are planned for the first two years, must contribute to give a new impetus to the knowledge economy in Europe and address the issues that are at the heart of the citizens lifes.

The 12th of December, Maria-Cristina Russo, Director of EC DG "Research and innovation", and Wolfgang Burtscher, Deputy Director General responsible for Directorates A, M and R of EC DG "Research and innovation", presented the launching of the H2020 Programme in Brussels. In addition, three beneficiaries of the 7th Framework Programme of the EU were invited to share their testimonies. Zeinab El Sadr, from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research from Egypt and Partner of MED-SPRING, was one of them.
