Iraq - Youth Livelihoods Development in Southern Iraq Project : restructuring

Wed, 11/05/2014 - 9:52am
The objective of the Youth Livelihoods Development in Southern Iraq Project for Iraq is to support 3,000 unemployed young people (aged 16 - 24), half ofthem young women, who have dropped out of school or are working in the informal sector in three governorates in Southern Iraq (Basra, Missan and Thiqar) to access opportunities for positive engagement and sustainable livelihoods through community development approaches. The restructuring involves a 17 month extension of the Grant’s closing date from September 30, 2013 until February 28, 2015. The extension is necessary in order to enable completion of project activities as a result of the delay at project inception. The project start date occurred later than anticipated due to in country project approval processes. The delay affected the launch of component one ‘youth livelihoods skills building’ for 3000 youth in 3 provinces, which now is operational. The recipient has prepared an action plan to ensure completion of project activities, and the project’s procurement plan has been updated accordingly.2014-11-02T04:00:00.000Z2014-11-02T04:00:00.000ZPoverty Reduction|Governance|Health, Nutrition and Population|Communities and Human Settlements|EducationYouth and Governance|Adolescent Health|Housing & Human Habitats|Primary Education|Poverty Monitoring & AnalysisMiddle East and North AfricaIraq - Youth Livelihoods Development in Southern Iraq Project : restructuringEnglishIraqPoverty Reduction|Governance|Health, Nutrition and Population|Communities and Human Settlements|EducationYouth and Governance|Adolescent Health|Housing & Human Habitats|Primary Education|Poverty Monitoring & Analysis77440IraqEnglishProject PaperMiddle East and North Africa

The project EG-Natural Gas Connections Project has changed to Closed

Sun, 11/02/2014 - 2:26pm

The project EG-Natural Gas Connections Project has changed to Closed. To see more information, see the project information in the World Bank project database

The development objective of the Natural Gas Connections Project of Egypt is to (i) contribute to the Government of Egypt (GOE)'s program of switching consumption of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for natural gas through investment in new connections; and (ii) exploit the scale economies in transportation of natural gas relative to LPG in very densely populated areas, thereby reducing the cost of gas provision. The project will include two components: (a) Gas Transmission aiming at extending the existing gas transmission system by adding 37 km of pipelines and 4 pressure reduction stations (PRSs) in the Cairo area to provide additional supply points and to improve reliability of supply for the expansion of the distribution network. (b) Gas Distribution and Connection aiming at expansion of the gas distribution system for the connection of about 300,000 new customers, including the conversion of the customers' appliances to natural gas. The Distribution and Connection component will allow transport of gas at the points of delivery from the transmission network to housing areas, interconnect and control pressure in IP/MP/LP mains and to deliver gas to each individual house. The component will also include the connection of new appliances and the conversion of existing appliances in the customer household for the safe use of natural gas.2014-11-02T04:00:00.000Z2014-11-02T04:00:00.000ZEgypt, Arab Republic ofP095392EGClosedCHANGE
