The National Hellenic Research Foundation (NHRF) is a multidisciplinary Research Centre established in 1958. Coming under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology of the Ministry of Education, the NHRF‟s activities are addressing natural sciences and humanities. The NHRF includes six Institutes (the Institute of Biological Research and Biotechnology, the Institute of Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, the Institute of Theoretical and Physical Chemistry, the Institute for Neohellenic Research, the Institute of Byzantine Research and the Institute of Research for Greek and Roman Antiquity), as well as the National Documentation Centre.
The NHRF has a long experience in activities related to the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation in S&T since up to now it participated in four INCO projects in previous Framework Programmes and is currently a key partner in the Inconet project Mediterranean Innovation and Research Coordination Action - MIRA). In this later project the NHRF is responsible for the policy dialogue activities (support the functioning of the Monitoring Committee - MoCo, establishment of the MoCo Secretariat, synergies with other EU policies, etc.).
