Call For Papers - Tropical Agriculture: the Future of Food and Water Security in the MENA Region

From 29th to 30th January 2015 King's College London (KCL), the OCP Policy Center, the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB) and Wageningen University will organize an international conference on Tropical Agriculture: the Future of Food and Water Security in the MENA region, which will take place in Barcelona. The program will consist of twelve papers and will be organized by Mark Mulligan (KCL), Martin Keulertz (Purdue University), Karim El Aynaoui (OCP Policy Center), Eckart Woertz (CIDOB) and Jeroen Warner (Wageningen University).

Legal frameworks for cooperation on transboundary waters - Key aspects and opportunities for the Arab countries workshop

The Workshop will be from 11th to 12th June 2014 in Tunis, Tunisia and will discuss how transboundary cooperation can be fostered in order to improve water resources management between riparian countries, the sustainability of these shared resources and to safeguard water rights. Specifically, the Workshop will aim to increase awareness and understanding of the different legal frameworks for cooperation on shared waters resources. It will provide a platform to discuss the opportunity that the globalization of the Water Convention represents for the Arab region.

The European Water Platform latest newsletter

The European Water Platform has launched their new newsletter. The WssTP launched its new Innovation and Technology Advisory Board (iTAB). The WssTP iTAB will advise the Board on the consistency and relevance of the WssTP WG structure; evaluate and advise the board on the relevance of bottom-up proposals for new WG; monitor, guide, and supervise the quality of the work done in the individual Working Groups (WGs) and the WG structure as a whole.

UN-Water Annual International Zaragoza 2015 Conference

The post-2015 international agenda for water will be decided upon in 2015. The 2015 UN-Water International Zaragoza Conference ’Water and sustainable development: From vision to action’ will start the year by focusing on how to bring the agenda into action; a practical event on tools for implementation.

The UN-Water Conferences serve to prepare for World Water Day, focusing on "water and sustainable development" in 2015.

Renforcement des Relations Universités - Secteur économique

L’amélioration des relations universités-entreprises économiques est actuellement l’objet d’études et de mise en œuvre dans le cadre de deux projets Tempus agréés en 2013 et financés par l’Union Européenne. Les deux projets en question sont : SEMSEM (Services pour l’Employabilité et la Mobilité sous forme de Stages en Entreprises des étudiants du Maghreb/Machrek, montant global : 1,45 M€) et PROFIRE (Création d’un environnement pour l’émergence de pôles régionaux de formation, d’innovation et de recherche au Maghreb, montant global : 1,13 M€).

Tlemcen: L’Institut panafricain des sciences de l’eau, de l’énergie et des changements climatiques bientôt opérationnel

L’Institut panafricain des sciences de l’eau, de l’énergie et des changements climatiques devrait ouvrir prochainement et fonctionnera au sein de l’université Abou-Bekr-Belkaïd de Tlemcen. Ayant une vocation internationale, ce centre va permettre la formation de 80% d’étudiants africains et 20% d’Algériens pour devenir des experts et spécialistes dans ces filières enseignées qui seront sanctionnées par un master ou doctorat d’Etat en informatique, changement climatique et sciences de l’eau.
