Objectives:
The work package aims at strengthening Euro-Mediterranean STI cooperation both in terms of increased research cooperation between MPC and MS/AC and participation in EU programmes (including MS/AC research programme) and an improved environment for enhancing local to regional innovation accounting the selected societal challenges.
Description of work and role of partners:
Brokerage and venturing for increasing cooperation between EU and MPCs in research, technology and innovation is at the base of this work package. The work package will boost EU-MPC cooperation through brokerage and venturing events. Brokerage-venturing will be of two different types:
- The first type namely “brokerage to strengthen cooperation”, aims at strengthening the cooperation among researchers, SME and other stakeholders. Particularly, it facilitates networking and partnership cooperation/networking to participate in EU research and innovation programmes as well as MS/AC and MPC programmes. It will aim at increasing research networking (MPCs and EU research actors) to facilitate participation of MPCs researchers and research stakeholders in the ERA and specifically H2020.
- The second type, namely “brokerage and venturing for innovation” aims at facilitating bridging between research and innovation through the creation of private-public and research-enterprise partnerships. It also aims at bridging local and regional actors, helping them to join forces and enhance clustering for innovation. The EC (RTD-EEAS-DEVCO-ENTR) will be involved to enhance synergies and identify brokerage objectives beyond H2020 (ex.: ENPI). Synergies with Thematic NCP Network projects is also vital, where co-organizing brokerage events would amplify the sought impact of such events. With regard to innovation, the MIRA working group involved in EMIS will also be involved in relevant events to frame and harmonise cluster level brokerage with the conceptual architecture of the Euro-Mediterranean Innovation Space.
Analysis of current clustering for innovation in the region and an analysis of innovation conditions in the Mediterranean will be carried out to support brokerage for innovation.
