The first meeting of the EMEG has conveyed about 50 experts from Europe and South Mediterranean countries (Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia, Turkey) to discuss ways and means to increase uptake of research results and enhance a positive socio-economic impact on the civil society with regard to important challenges like water resources, food quality and security, energy.
The meeting is an opportunity for an open dialogue between EMEG experts and the web-Community through a special public session. The meeting delivers recommendations for the Euro-Mediterranean agenda, particularly to research policy makers of Members States, Mediterranean Partner Countries as well as European institutions and programmes (particularly the upcoming EU Research Programme “Horizon 2020”). Outputs and recommendations of the first EMEG meeting will also be discussed and endorsed in a regional multi-stakeholder meeting to be organized in January 2014.
Guidelines and workplan
The EMEG Guidelines provide an operational guidance for the activities to be carried out before, during and after the Lisbon meeting, with a particular focus on the work to be performed in Lisbon. Please find also the concept note, providing the conceptual scheme/model laying beyond the methodological guidelines.
As you will notice in the guidelines, EMEG contributes in Lisbon to take stock of and systematise inputs coming from an open public consultation, which has been launched by MEDSPRING-AGORA in May on "Research results valorisation", as described in the Guidelines. The outcomes of the public consultation were sent to all EMEG experts before the meeting, and two/three experts per sub-group will be asked to support the Coordination team to prepare the ground for the work in Lisbon.
Please also note that you have the repository of documents/bibliographic references available for consultation to all EMEG experts.
